Knesset discussed introduction of Victory lessons in Israeli schools

Introducing the topic of Victory in World War II and heroism of Jewish soldiers at the battlefield was the main issue discussed at a special meeting in the Israeli Parliament. The discussion was suggested by Ksenia Svetlova, the Knesset deputy, reports the press-service of the Russian Cultural Center in Tel-Aviv.  

High-ranked politicians, Russian and Belorussian diplomats, social activists, scientists, university professors and historians took part in the meeting.    

According to Dmitry Parchomchuk, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo mission in Tel-Aviv, the RCC will be happy to assist the Israeli institutions in introducing lessons on the World War II history into the Israeli education system.    

At the meeting the parties agreed to form a special temporary target group which would develop recommendations for the Israeli Education Minitsry.

As the Russkiy Mir reported, residents of Papua New Guinea addressed the head of the Russian Orthodox Church with a collective petition to establish an Orthodox mission in their country. This proposal was put forward after Kirill Shrakbul, a priest and head of the ROC mission in Taiwan, had visited Papua New Guinea.
